ACKNOWLEGEMENT

The report “Comparative Study of Sustainable and Better Market
Access of the Regional Rice Sector: Vietnam – Lao PDR – Cambodia” is a joint
product of experts from the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and
Rural Development (IPSARD), the Cambodia Development Research Institute
(CDRI), National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute (NAFRI) and senior
expert – Dr Dang Kim Son in the framework of the regional project “Network
of Agriculture and Rural Development think-tanks for countries in Mekong
sub-region” (NARDT). NARDT is coordinated by IPSARD and funded by The
International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) with an overall goal to
improve quality of policy formulation and impacts of policy implementation in
agriculture and rural development through the promotion of information sharing,
experience exchange, joint research and institutional capacity strengthening for
the policy think-tanks, networks and dialogues in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar,
and Viet Nam (CLMV). Using the input country reports and data gathered from
3 ASEAN member states (Viet Nam, Laos PDR, Cambodia) and secondary
data, this report covers the current situation of rice. It provides provide an
overall picture of theregional rice sector, sustainable and better market
access for the sector through evidence-based policy recommendations; and
facilitate sharing experiences and strengthening cooperation among countries.
