Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on rural agriculture in Vietnam

To assess the status of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and access to the Government's initial support policy for rural residents, the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development (IPSARD) has coordinated with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to conduct a Survey on Impact Assessment of the COVID-19 pandemic on rural residents in 12 provinces. From there, assessing the situation, launched a research problem and prepare response measures, and make recommendations for relevant agencies to develop appropriate policies to support the response. with the impact and consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The seminor "Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on rural agriculture in Vietnam" is an opportunity for stakeholders to exchange, discuss, propose identify and feedback on issues that need to be further focused, solve and propose solutions to enhance resilience and promote self-reliance of agriculture and rural areas to overcome negative impacts and take advantage of opportunities after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Attending the Conference were Mr. Phung Duc Tien - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, Mr. Thomas Rath - Coordinator of Mekong Region Sub-region Office, IFAD Country Director in Vietnam, representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), representatives from Party and Government agencies, units of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, research institutes, international organizations, press agency media.
