Policy dialogue under the regional project “Network for Agriculture and Rural Development Think-tanks for Countries in Mekong sub-region (NARDT) funded by IFAD.

Vietnam is considered a successful country in rural development, especially the implementation progress of the national National Targeted Program for New Rural Development since 2008. In order to share experiences on rural development of Vietnam with members of the NARDT project network, research partners and delegates, the Institute for Policy and Strategy for Rural Agricultural Development (IPSARD) organized the workshop "Lessons learned from the rural development progress of Viet Nam" in Quang Ninh province. The workshop was held in the form of in-person and online via Zoom.

The workshop attracted more than 40 participants including NARDT members, donor, researchers and policy makers, as well as local officials. At the workshop, IPSARD researchers and leaders shared knowledge and lessons on: i) Current status of implementation of the National Target Program on New Rural Development in the period of 2021-2025; ii) Some key issues in new rural construction in the current period; iii)  Experience in implementing the “One Commune One Product” Program (OCOP) in Quang Ninh province; iv) Orientations and solutions to complete the tasks of building new rural area in Quang Ninh province in the period of 2021-2025. These are experienced lessons in the process of implementing programs and policies related to rural development in Vietnam in general and in Quang Ninh province in particular.
